Version 3.0.0.6 was a short lived one. Released version 3.0.0.7 with two bug fixes.
09/13/2008
Less than a month after the last release we are proud to announce version 3.0.0.6. It contains the new command $SUMMARY, a powerful addition to ConnectedText's tool chest. With just one command it is possible to create a table summarizing property values of all topics or a subset of them. The command is very flexible enabling the use of Full Text expression.
At each new version we have been adding more features using properties. And many more are on the way. That makes ConnectedText a unique tool since not only you can store information in it with but also manipulate information inside it. Information is alive inside ConnectedText. It is not a passive piece of text like in other Personal Information Systems. Topics can be created dynamically extracting information from other topics very easily. Our aim is to create a system not only for information storage and retrieval but for knowledge manipulation and discovery.
Version 3.0.0.6 also contains improvements in markups and three bug fixes. Consult the Change Log for complete information.

It is now possible to change the location where ConnectedText stores projects and configuration files. There is a topic in project Welcome describing how to do it.

We think that is the most profound change we did in ConnectedText since its inception. For those upgrading from previous versions, there is important information you should know before installing version 3.0.
Version 3.0 would not be possible without the help of our users who used ConnectedText during the beta cycle. Many took great lengths to help track down problems. Many offered suggestions. Others translated ConnectedText to their language. That's the most beautiful part of ConnectedText's development: see how our users care about it showing to us how important ConnectedText became to them.
Notice that we changed ConnectedText's licensing police due requests from our users. ConnectedText now is licensed in two ways: Single Computer or Single User, making it easier to find a solution that best suits your needs. Check our FAQ to learn more about it. Important notice: users who purchased ConnectedText prior version 2.0 need a new license for version 3.0. For those who purchased version 2.0 or later upgrade is free of charge.
If you want to try ConnectedText just download it and start working immediately. If you tried ConnectedText before we invite you for a new trial period so you can see why more and more people are choosing ConnectedText.

If you read the Change Log you won't see a lot of new features because most of the changes are internal, providing a basis for continuous growth. The main features of version 2.1 are:
- Support for Windows Vista;
- USB version, which enables you to use ConnectedText in any computer running Windows. Just plug your USB drive and start working. No need to install. Check our FAQ to learn more about the USB version;

As you can see we heard you. Now that those items are available we are ready to tackle version 3.0. We would like to thank all users who sent reports, screen shots, wrote suggestions and even topics. In special we want to thank Jørgen Brenting for translating ConnectedText to Danish. Well done.

2 months without any news... Too much time. We have been buried in work, making ConnectedText more robust, fixing problems and adding some new features. Version 2.1 is almost ready. It supports Windows Vista and there is a new USB version. Those who want to try it can download a beta version. No need for requesting a trial license anymore. Just install and try!
For those who purchased ConnectedText and install the new version, send an email to us asking for you new license. The previous one does not work with version 2.1. As soon as you install, ConnectedText turns to trial mode. So don't worry, you can continue working. Just ask for you license providing your full name.

Happy New Year!
New year new version. We said that version 2.0.0.8 was the last in the 2.0 series but due to a few bugs found and some user suggestions to improve ConnectedText, we decided to made another release. The suggestions improve the usability of ConnectedText. We couldn't make you waiting to take advantage of it. Consult the Change Log for complete information.
There is one suggestion that couldn't make into this version: Topic Merge. It will be available in version 2.0.1.0 (that will be the last before 3.0, I swear). Why one more version? Because with it we will release USB ConnectedText, a common request. It will be installed directly in a USB drive making it possible to use ConnectedText anywhere with any computer running Windows OS. It will be available in a couple of weeks and will be sold as a separate product.
That shows our commitment to deliver to all of you a good product.

Tomorrow marks the second anniversary that I started coding ConnectedText. Looking retrospectively I see that ConnectedText would not be what is today without all messages, suggestions, critics and even harsh words that we received. No matter what it helped us to improve ConnectedText. We know it is impossible to please everyone, but I would like to say we try hard.
Version 2.0.0.8 is the last in the 2.0 series. Unless some serious bug appears, next version will be 3.0. That is the right time to put your wishes in our front door!
As our last words for 2006, we wish for all you, no matter you like or use ConnectedText, that 2007 be a year with more peace, more happiness, more joy, that each of you could accomplish more, achieve all desired goals, could stay more time with your beloved friends and relatives. If ConnectedText could help any of you to achieve it, it will be our greatest reward.

This version also contains some improvements to make life easier with ConnectedText. Many of them were suggested in our forum. If some suggestion did no entry in this version it is due to our work toward version 3.0. Don't worry. Our todo list is kept in a special ConnectedText project.
Some observations:
- A new style class was added to CSS files. If you have changed any of them you will have to make some editing. A backup copy of all CSS files is made during installation.
- The installer was modified so it does not overwrite anymore the icons configuration file or the protocol definition file.
