Tomorrow marks the second anniversary that I started coding ConnectedText. Looking retrospectively I see that ConnectedText would not be what is today without all messages, suggestions, critics and even harsh words that we received. No matter what it helped us to improve ConnectedText. We know it is impossible to please everyone, but I would like to say we try hard.
Version 2.0.0.8 is the last in the 2.0 series. Unless some serious bug appears, next version will be 3.0. That is the right time to put your wishes in our front door!
As our last words for 2006, we wish for all you, no matter you like or use ConnectedText, that 2007 be a year with more peace, more happiness, more joy, that each of you could accomplish more, achieve all desired goals, could stay more time with your beloved friends and relatives. If ConnectedText could help any of you to achieve it, it will be our greatest reward.

Version 2.0.0.7 released. It is mainly a maintenance release. Contains many fixes to bugs reported by our users. Thanks for all of them for reporting and helping us track down the causes. Consult the Change Log for complete information.
This version also contains some improvements to make life easier with ConnectedText. Many of them were suggested in our forum. If some suggestion did no entry in this version it is due to our work toward version 3.0. Don't worry. Our todo list is kept in a special ConnectedText project.
Some observations:
- A new style class was added to CSS files. If you have changed any of them you will have to make some editing. A backup copy of all CSS files is made during installation.
- The installer was modified so it does not overwrite anymore the icons configuration file or the protocol definition file.

Cal Jacobson, a ConnectedText user, set up an impressive site with script recipes. We strongly suggest to everyone interested in expanding the use of ConnectedText to visit his site. It can be found in the following link: ConnectedText Scripts.
If you have a good script or an interesting idea, send to him or to us, so other users may benefit from it.
It is really rewarding for us to see such initiative. Well done, Cal! Thank you very much!!

We have been silent but that does not mean we are in vacation. We are working hard in the next version of ConnectedText. We would like to release it the same date we released the first beta version last year, to mark ConnectedText's one year anniversary. Let's see if we can make it.
Meanwhile there is another style sheet available for ConnectedText. Thanks to Wojciech Litwin for his contribution. You can download it from here.

Version 1.5.0.4 is released. It contains two new plugins that can vastly enhance the use of ConnectedText. Ploticus plugin can generate several types of charts make it suitable to representation of experimental data. GraphViz plugin can generate graphs using different layout algorithms in a easier way. Both plugins are interfaces for the well-known open source projects of the same name. Welcome contains several examples of use of both plugins. Any other examples of use are welcome and can be posted in our forum.
We heard you. Several requests for changes in the Navigator were implemented:
- Home button;
- Categories and back links;
- Creation of new topics.
But there is more:
- Table rendering was much improved. Now is possible to have cells with multiple lines, inline styles can control table presentation properties and tables can be nested.
- Many new options were introduced in Full Text search. Queries now can be saved for further use. Shortcuts can be assigned to them.

Version 1.5.0.3 is released. As we promised it contains Anchor links. It was requested by many users. See previous news topic about changes in topic naming.
Also it is now possible to export an entire project to just one file using Microsoft's HTML Help. You can pack not only all topics in single file but even all your images and external file, making it handy to distribute your work to other people. For instance, it is possible to prepare study material for distribution.Version 1.5.0.3 contains several changes in date topics. A date topic is now rendered with a calendar which layout is controlled by project's style sheet. Since it was necessary to add new classes to ConnectedText's style sheets, during installation a backup copy is made of your files. If you changed any style sheet you will need to revise it.
Consult the Change Log to know what changed in ConnectedText. And read about the new features in the Welcome project.
Next version will contain:
- New plugins
- Table of contents view
- Table enhancements
Enjoy!

Some new features are almost ready for deliver, so we would like to provide some information about them in order to let you prepare your projects.
Anchors is one of the most commonly requested feature. In order to implement them it is necessary the use of character #, so it will be forbidden its use in topic titles starting in next version. So if you have topics with such character start changing them. If you do not change topic will remain valid but could be unreachable in links.
Another requested feature is ability to create self contained files with project contents. In next version will be possible to generate HTML Help files using ConnectedText in a very simple way. It will enable the distribution of your projects to other people without the need of ConnectedText. The generated file contains everything that belongs to your project, including images and external files. As an example take a look in the Welcome Project in HTML Help format.

And there are more on the way. Next version will included anchors, one of the most requested feature. Also some new improvements in date topics that will make easier to navigate between them.

The day finally arrived!!! We are proud to announce version 1.5 release.
It took more time than we planned but we think our effort was rewarded. Now ConnectedText fully supports Unicode, has a improved search engine, Navigator can be docked anywhere and many other new features. Check the complete list by yourself.
During the development cycle, specially during the beta cycle, we received many bug reports and suggestions. We tried to add as many features as possible without changing to much our schedule. We would like to thank all of you. And if your suggestion didn't come into this version rest assured that it is our ever growing backlog, and it will be added in the future.
Since ConnectedText now supports Unicode, its requirements changed. Windows 98 and ME are not supported anymore. If you use those Windows versions you will need to remain with version 1.2.0.6 of ConnectedText, unless you plan to use just plain ASCII in your texts.
During the installation of version 1.5 all projects are converted to a new format that is not compatible with prior versions of ConnectedText. Backup your Projects directory before you install the new version. You will need those file if you want to revert to a previous version of ConnectedText.
For those using a 1.5 beta version consult the Change Log to know what changed from the last beta released.

Again we would like to thank all feedback we received. If you sent a suggestion and it was not implemented, don't worry. It will be in next versions.
